A FEMALE TRUCK DRIVER: WHY NOT!

For those who still doubts whether “a woman can do what a man can do”, please think...
thrice! Some women in Nigeria are already driving heavy duty trucks. If you want to know why they are engaging in this nature of job which can be claimed to be masculine in-nature, please read and see for yourself.

My argument have always being that if we have more women (who thinks they can manage the stress of the job) in the haulage sector driving trucks, then logistic companies will be at the advantage.

 Here are my reasons:
  1. A female truck driver is more likely to drive the truck “more carefully” by maintaining the desired speed thereby reducing the rate of accidents amongst heavy duty trucks on the highway.
  2. She is likely not willing to undergo the stress of selling the truck tyres on the highway simply for entertainment purpose. Read
  3. She is likely to ensure the goods are delivered to the customers warehouse “completely” without giving any excuse as to why the goods are missing or why there exist a complete disappearance of a truck-load.
  4. She is likely to be sensitive to the maintenance issues pertaining to the trucks so it is always about “safety first”.
  5. She is more likely to keep the truck clean always etc.

However my advice for intending female truck driver is that if they decide to drive trucks they should limit their truck driving adventure to both “inter-city” or “short inter-state” journey. But for those who think they can handle the “cross country” experience why not!

For the intending female truck drivers out there, i wish you good-luck
