TRUCK DRIVING: "ALAKOWE'S" UNTAPPED GOLD MINE

Transportation is a very important segment in a nations economic, social and political development, as a matter of fact the transport sector contributes over 10% to the nation's GDP. ...
The transport sector is divided into 3 areas, the air transport, land transport and sea transportation. For the purpose of this write-up let us focus our attention to land transportation because it is a major employer of labour.

Do you wonder why the likes of  ABC transport, several logistic companies and emerging one's like @Uber_Lagos , @alakowebus etc are fast taking up the opportunities in this sector? What about the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) whose demand is on the increase within the metropolitan city of Lagos State? If you want to know how important transportation business is, try going to Oshodi as early as 5 - 6am, perhaps try to imagine a situation where petrol tanker drivers decides not to lift a litre of fuel from the depot or truck drivers decides not bring in tomato and pepper from the North! Now you understand how important and economically viable transportation business is to the survival of any economy.

However, I observed that over 90% of the people handling the operation in this sector are stack illiterate the so called Agberos (i guess that is why @alakowebus decided to be "Alakowe" and not "Agbero" lol). It might be shocking to know that the so called Agberos make more money than an average banker! You heard me, more money than an average banker!! For example an average "Danfo driver" makes a minimum of N5000 per day so if you multiple that by 26 (minus 4 days of Sundays) we have 5000 x 26 = N130,000 per month (of course he makes more than that) . I also know that a 15 tonnes truck driver takes home over N150,000 per month (without the inclusion of allowances) and a 30 tonnes trailer driver makes up to N200,000 per month without the addition of trip allowance (the so called "Agberos").

What about you the ALAKOWE? My advice for the so called "alakowe's" is that you need to wake up! If an "agbero" can make that much a month, I see no reason why you will sit at home expecting a dream job to come to your door step (remember the unemployment rate is over 20% now).  As an "Alakowe" you have a comparative advantage at your finger tips, you are designed to think differently. You are educated, you are a more organized, more likely to be polite while driving, am sure you won't smoke and drink while or before driving,  you know the consequences of not obeying traffic laws and signs etc Tell me why a Dangote, Unilever Nigeria, Nigerian Brewery, P&G etc will not employ you INSTANTLY to take charge of delivering their goods or do you think they are comfortable with the so called "agberos"? Wake-up and see the huge opportunity, make some money and divert it to your dream plan. You don't need a prophecy all you need is humility.

I know some people will see truck driving as down grading to their status (lol... status without money is already down-down-down graded ooo so don't deceive youself). To be candid  with you, start to look at truck driving as a raw gold which at first does not look attractive but after series of processes becomes a valuable item.
To be a truck driver, you need training of both the technical and mechanical aspect (just like going to school), it is a skill you will not regret having. Visit a truck driving school today get the knowledge and  as soon as you are through in 6 months I can guarantee you an instant job! Yes instant job.

We will also be enrolling just 5 people for 6 month intensive truck driving training for free at our company and after the training prove me wrong if you don't get an instant job.
